"Marion Rant" Alert
I make no secret of my cynicism about some - not all - of the internet marketing that goes on. Sales copy that is highly manipulative, which tells me there are only 100, 68, 41, 17 copies left of an e-book (didn't realise digital products had a limit); that if I don't buy before midnight the price will quadruple; that most people are unambitious dumbos but smart high achievers will be jumping at this opportunity to learn the secret of untold wealth which requires only $37 and ten minutes a week to achieve. Hmm, now do I put myself in the 'dumbo' camp or the 'high achiever' one..?
I received one Get Rich Quick link the other day written by this "dumb blonde bimbo". Her words. I can tell you, from where I was sitting she was no dumb blonde. In fact I'm not sure where 'they' got the photo but she was clearly a figment of some clever marketer's imagination. And 'she' made the offer incredibly tempting. Now, even if I have to put myself in the 'dumbo' camp it's ok - this bird is gonna show me how to make enough money to drive a fast car and holiday five times a year in the Bahamas, presumably while the servants get my child to school and supervise his homework.
But today I've received an email that has rattled me more than I've been rattled since the time I was fooled into parting with £200 for a plastic wall clock and a set of saucepans.
