I've been to a lot of business meetings and conferences recently where you spot people drinking a lot of sludgy green fluid. What's that all about then? Well, I got a chance to ask an expert about it yesterday and its all to do with alkalising your body, something about which my colleague Claire Raikes, of www.liveinessence.com is also very keen.
The pH Miracle is a book which tells you how to improve your health by carefully selecting what you put into your body, and supergreens can support you in this quest.
I am thinking of taking up a 30 day challenge which involves no tobacco, processed foods, sugar, honey, syrup, hydrogenated fat, milk, dairy products, meat, eggs, salt/sodium, mushrooms, yeast, alcohol, bread, baked products, vinegar, sauces, fermented or malted products, caffeine or fizzy drinks.
We've tried some extreme regimes on behalf of our clients, juicing with Jason, Gillian McKeith etc. and so I think I will boldly go where no wise woman has (to my knowledge) split infinitives before and report back. All in the interests of science and healthy wisdom, of course!
If this is my last ever posting, you will know why!
Meanwhile, until hearing from me again - check this out. www.phmiracleliving.com
lolol - the thing is Jan, I was so poorly I had little choice. Well, I did. I could have registered myself as Disabled and accepted a life of steroids. Or opted for surgery and a colostomy bag. Suddenly, aduki beans and supergreens don't seem that hardcore! And anyway, I'm no angel. I still make bad choices, but I figure since I live at about 95% (in the 80/20 scale) I'm doing ok. If you are in general good health, surely 80/20 is the way to go?
As to what Supergreens taste like... hard to compare, but cold nettle tea isn't far away - a bit earthier tasting maybe. Nice though. Much, much nicer than it looks!

Whoa! I thought I was a bit hard-core, but I can see I am an utter wuss compared to Claire. I'm suddenly developing a 'moderation in all things' philosophy. I think I'll just have to remain a little bit toxic.
On a postive note, our morning juice has been very heavy on the spinach recently and it tastes fabulous!
By the way - what do supergreens taste like?

I would do anything for our clients, I'd run right into hell and back... yes, I would do anything for our clients.
But I won't do THAT!

Judith, you do know that it was the PH Miracle detox that made me feel so unwell last Easter, don't you? When I was too weak to stand long enough to make myself a juice? And was eating a quarter of tomato a day which I couldn't even keep down? It is also largely responsible for 'curing' the allegedly chronic condition I used to suffer with.
This is a serious detox - hardcore. I lost 2 stone in 2 weeks!!! So where Dr Robert Young says that bit about having people with you while you do it, I'd advise against thinking (as I did) you can handle it alone. Depending on how toxic you are, you can have some pretty violent detox symptoms. And you absolutely cannot continue to work while you do it - as he points out!
That said, I would counter all of the above by saying that this 'New Biology' as he calls it, does make a lot of sense. So if you can afford to take a couple of weeks off work and find someone to nurse and monitor you - go right ahead!!
As for what you CAN eat, well not a lot during the first 2 stages of detox, but once you are through it, it's all about beans (as in aduki, mung, kidney etc), chickpeas, lentils, quinoa, millet, brown rice, chickpea and spelt pasta, oats, seeds, nuts, sprouts, non-sugary fruits, spices and absolutely loads of fresh veg (especially green ones)and herbs and the occasional bit of fish or organic chicken. It sounds dull but I promise, with a little imagination, it isn't. Honest!
